The interference/noise is so bad that sometimes we cant hear the operator speaking. It sound like we are way out of range but we have used this system for 8 years (problem free).We have had all the radios, aeriel and base unit checked and there doesn’t appear to be a fault with those. Can anyone give me any idea as to what could be the problem, thank you.

it might be electrical interference from the surroundings or just bad signal.
It is also possible that the peoople are breathing in the 2 way radio(nose/mouth).
Could be from the ignition coil or the distributor (I assume you have petrol engined taxis?)
If not it maybe from the alternator – does the interference change pitch when you rev the engine?
Sounds like some kinf or surpressor is needed – but without knowing the exact source it’s difficult to specify which type. Try asking a knowledable auto electrician in your area.
