question for people who know a little bit about 2 way radios and such?

i would like a way to communicate with my frieinds during airsoft games using a headset, prefferably this one (http://airsoft-club.com/shop/tactical-gear/communication/radio-accessories/element-tasc-tactical-headset-tan) but i believe i also need to attach it to a main 2-way device. if i buy this (http://www.nextdaypc.com/main/products/details.aspx?PID=8557090&rsmainid=ND0130014) and attach them to the headset, can i communicate between the two? is there anything else i need to buy? thanks

I was an electronic technician for many years, but only on equipment that did not transmit RF. I need to learn how radios work and how to troubleshoot them, but I don’t have 6 months to spend studying the topic.

Is there a way to program a 'professional' 2-way radio on your own?

I am on the fire dept in my town, and we don’t have radio’s that we have with us all the time. I am planning to buy my own motorola government style radio so I can be in constant contact with dispatch and the fire dept. Is there a way that I could program it at home or would I have to send it out? Im not sure what type of signal our radio’s are, the frequece is 39.100 on the scanner, would that be Mhz? or what??

        Thanks!
